Cary Firefighters Announce Professional Association
Union gives them access to the latest fire fighting advances

Cary, NC  The Cary Professional Firefighters have organized a new local union as part of their ongoing efforts to serve the city's citizens better.

Local 4103 is a full affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), giving Cary firefighters a direct link to the latest developments across the entire profession.  The IAFF represents 245,000 professional fire fighters and paramedics in the United States and Canada.

"IAFF Local 4103 was formed to allow Cary firefighters the opportunity to continue to serve the public during their off duty time as well as provide an opportunity to share workplace issues," said Andy Hiscock, President of Local 4103.  "The Cary Professional Firefighters also want to make an organized effort to help area charities like Habitat for Humanity, American Red Cross, Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill, and the North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation."

The firefighters' mission is to save lives whether they are in or out of uniform.  In fact, the members of Local 4103 just completed their first blood drive in conjunction with the Cary Chapter of the American Red Cross on August 11, 2001.  A second effort where they plan to challenge other fire departments across the state to donate blood is being planned for Fire Prevention Week October 7-13, 2001.
The Cary Professional Firefighters Association also plan to participate in the Habitat for Humanity project in Cary during the fall and will be sponsors of the North Carolina Fallen Firefighters Foundation fundraising event at the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena on November 3, 2001.

Joining President Hiscock as recently elected officers of Local 4103 are Vice President Allan Smith, Secretary Ritch Moore, and Treasurer Tim Anderson.
